Vernon began the Motivating Youth company in 2009 after serving as the Senior Class President at Duncanville High school in Duncanville, TX. During that time Vernon received the opportunity to speak to the local elementary, middle and high schools students in the district, and that when Vernon had found his passion! After being accepted as a communications major at Fort hays State University, Vernon continue to impact the next generation by speaking (pro bono/free) at the local schools in the surrounding communities. In 2012 following an assembly, one of the students went home and told his parents that before hearing Vernon speak, he was contemplating suicide, but following one of Vernon's presentations he decided that he would live and not give up hope. The parents reached out to Vernon and said they wanted to invest in his business/ministry. Vernon has since then impacted over 500,000 students, teens, young adults, and many families through the Motivating Youth Company. Today the Motivating Youth Company employs full time counselors/therapists for adolescents, and part time interns from partnering universities as mentors and tutors for students in secondary education. MYC also provides contract management services to uprising speakers. Between 2012 - 2024 MYC has helped over 300+ students obtain over $300,000 in college scholarships.
The History of Motivating Youth Company
Motivating Youth began with the vision of Vernon King to start an organization that parents and school districts would trust to impact students to become top leaders. Originally MYC offered to book top tier motivational speakers for school assemblies and conference. Now, MYC hires college interns, offers tutoring for secondary education students, provides therapy and counseling sessions for adolescent teens through various organizations. Finally, MYC is one of the top organizations that offers a hands on approach in helping seniors in high school prepare for their higher education journey!
