The Motivating Youth Company

Motivating Youth was founded with the vision of Vernon King, who set out to build an organization that parents and school districts could trust to positively shape the lives of students and develop them into top-tier leaders. Initially, MYC focused on booking high-caliber motivational speakers for school assemblies and conferences. Over time, the organization expanded its reach and impact. Today, MYC hires college interns, offers tutoring for secondary education students, and provides therapy and counseling sessions for adolescents through partnerships with various organizations. Most notably, MYC has become one of the leading organizations offering a hands-on approach to helping high school seniors successfully prepare for their higher education journey.

Vernon King founded Motivating Youth Company (MYC) in 2009 after serving as Senior Class President at Duncanville High School in Duncanville, Texas. During his time in that leadership role, Vernon was invited to speak to students across local elementary, middle, and high schools. It was through these early opportunities that he discovered his true passion—motivating and empowering the next generation.

After being accepted as a Communications major at Fort Hays State University, Vernon continued sharing his message, volunteering his time to speak at schools in surrounding communities. In 2012, following one of his school assemblies, a student went home and shared with his parents that he had been contemplating suicide. After hearing Vernon speak, he decided to hold on to hope and choose life. The student’s parents reached out to Vernon, expressing their gratitude and offering to invest in his growing vision.

That moment marked a turning point for Vernon and the Motivating Youth Company. Since then, MYC has impacted the lives of more than 500,000 students, teens, young adults, and families through its programs and services. Today, MYC employs full-time licensed counselors and therapists who serve adolescents, as well as part-time interns from partnering universities who provide mentorship and tutoring for secondary education students. The organization also supports up-and-coming motivational speakers by offering contract management services to help them build their platforms and reach more audiences.

Between 2012 and 2024, MYC helped over 300 students earn more than $300,000 in college scholarships. Through these efforts, MYC continues to fulfill its mission of preparing youth for academic success, emotional well-being, and leadership in their communities.
